IPL Photofacial
Erase sun damage. Even your tone.
What Is IPL Photofacial?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses broad-spectrum light to target pigment and blood vessels in the skin without damaging the surface. The light energy is absorbed by melanin (brown spots) and hemoglobin (redness), breaking them down so your body can naturally clear them.
Unlike lasers that use a single wavelength, IPL uses multiple wavelengths simultaneously, making it versatile for treating various skin concerns in a single session. It's particularly effective for sun damage, brown spots, and diffuse redness.
The treatment is well-tolerated, requires minimal downtime, and produces cumulative results — each session builds on the last for progressively clearer, more even skin.
What Does IPL Photofacial Treat?
- •Sun spots and age spots
- •Freckles and sun damage
- •Rosacea and facial redness
- •Broken capillaries and spider veins
- •Uneven skin tone
- •Poikiloderma (neck discoloration)
What to Expect
Consultation & Planning
We'll evaluate your skin concerns, discuss your treatment history, and ensure you're a good candidate. We'll also discuss sun protection requirements before and after treatment.
The Treatment
After applying cooling gel, the IPL handpiece delivers pulses of light across the treatment area. You'll feel a snapping sensation — like a rubber band. Treatment takes 30-45 minutes for a full face.
Your Results & Recovery
Brown spots will darken initially (this is normal — it means the treatment is working) and flake off within 7-10 days. Redness may appear slightly worse before improving. Full results are visible after 2-3 weeks per session.

How many IPL sessions do I need?+
Most patients achieve optimal results with a series of 3-5 sessions, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Each session produces visible improvement, with cumulative results building over the series.
Does IPL hurt?+
Most patients describe IPL as a rubber band snap — briefly uncomfortable but very tolerable. The treatment is quick, and the snapping sensation lasts only fractions of a second per pulse.
Is IPL safe for darker skin tones?+
IPL carries higher risk for darker skin tones due to the way it targets melanin. We use alternative treatments for patients with darker skin. Your provider will recommend the safest, most effective option for your skin tone.
What should I avoid before IPL?+
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 4 weeks before treatment. Also avoid retinoids and certain medications for 1 week prior. We'll provide a complete preparation guide.
