Pressure to Treat
A responsible provider never pressures you to get more treatment than you're comfortable with. If a med spa pushes you to add areas you didn't ask about, criticizes your appearance to create insecurity, offers aggressive discounts contingent on treating immediately, or makes you feel guilty for wanting to think about it — leave. Good aesthetic medicine is collaborative, never coercive.
Opacity About Products and Providers
Red flag: if they won't tell you exactly what product they're using (brand name, lot number) or who will be performing your treatment. Some discount med spas use non-FDA-approved products, have untrained staff perform injections, or substitute cheaper products without disclosure. You have a right to know what's going in your body and who's doing it.
No Consultation Process
Walking in and getting injected without any discussion of your goals, medical history, or expectations is a serious red flag. A proper consultation should include a review of your medical history, a facial assessment, a discussion of your goals and expectations, a clear treatment plan with pricing, and information about risks and aftercare. If they're ready to inject before asking you a single question, reconsider.
Unrealistic Promises
Be wary of providers who guarantee specific results, promise you'll look like a celebrity or reference photo, claim their techniques have no risks or side effects, or show only filtered or heavily edited before-and-after photos. Honest providers discuss realistic expectations, acknowledge limitations, and show authentic, unfiltered results. At Lumière, we promise integrity — not perfection. Your results will be beautiful and natural, but they'll be uniquely yours.
